The name “Moretti” comes from the statues that the Venetians call “I Mori” (the Moors), which strike the hours on the Clock Tower in St Mark’s Square. Nicknamed for their brown colour, the Moors are two bronze statues standing on a terrace at the top of the Tower: they depict two shepherds who strike the hours with a club on a large bell.
Moretti are born from the meeting of the exceptional flavour of cocoa with the classic Bussolà recipe, for a delicious biscuit. The cocoa tree is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, and its fruit was already eaten by pre-Columbian cultures such as the Maya, over 4000 years ago.
